Sheila the  Sheep

Hello everyone!

I’m Sheila, the Sheep

I’m quite a big deal, you know

Even bigger than Bo-Peep

Now, there’s plenty o’stories

About us friendly farmyard-type folk

But this story, is about me

And a mysterious-type bloke

He had these big wings, see

And he appeared in the sky

He had this harp, an’ an halo

And his entrance, wa’n’t nothing like shy

Oh no, he arrived with his singing

And he shone like a light

Yeah, he made quite the impression

In the middle of that cold winter night

And he asked me for directions

But I asked him for his name

He said “I’m the angel, called Gabriel,

Now, can we just stop with this game

Because I’m here on a mission

To bring some good news”

I asked “Is it good news for sheep Gabe?

Go on, give us some clues”

He said “Well, it’s good news for the humans,

And although I’ll need to get back,

I first need to find me some shepherds,

And then this grungy old shack”

I said, “Oh yeah, the shepherds?

Well, they’re all over there, fast asleep

We’re the only ones awake Gabe

Yeah, it’s only us lot, the sheep”

So, Gabe went off to wake shepherds

Who were all terrified

And I gathered up me sheep buddies

Who were quite sleepy, and sighed

And then me, and the shepherds

And Gabe, and the sheep

Headed down to that shack-stable-thingy

Blimey, it were winter and bleak

And guess what we saw there?

Lying still, in a manger

It were a little Baby Boy!

I’ve never seen nothing so stranger!

And He were there with His mum

Mary she were called

And this fella called Joseph

Who’s kinda like his step-dad we’re told

So this tiny little baby called Jesus

Who had only just then been born

Was clearly going to be chilly

So, we all snuggled in, for a warm

And that’s why I’m tellin’ ya

I’m such a big deal

Because without me, and me sheep buddies

Well, they’d’ve all frozen, for real

Yeah, us sheep were the ones

Who all cuddled in by

And kept them humans from freezing

Beneath that cold, clear, starlit-sky

So, that’s my story, don’t forget me

Sheila, the Sheep

Me and me crew kept everyone warm

On that first Christmas, so bleak

Oh, and what about me new friend? Gabe?

That one what come fromt’ th’ sky?

Well, he left us all singing his songs

‘Glory be to God, way on up there,

On High’
