When you’re all alone at Christmastime
And everyone else
is havin fun
And everyone else
is unwrappin their presents
Or gettin their Christmas dinners done
But all you have is one small tree
And maybe just one Christmas beer
And maybe ya dog, or a cat, for a friend
To share your Christmas cheer
Then remember love
that we’re both the same
And although, it’s not the best
You can still believe
in Christmastime
and get yourself
some peace, and rest
And have a little think about
When all the world was changed
from a baby born
with nothing at all
but now throughout the world
is famed
He wasn’t known for being rich
or handsome, tall,
or strong
He was known for being wise
and kind, because
He had a different kind of song
He said the poor are the blessed ones
And that when your spirit’s weak
You can call on Him
to pick you up
and put you back
upon your feet
And He points your heart
to what is right
And to all the things
what matter
not for gold, or clothes
or other trinkets
or Facebook Posts that flatter
Nah, He reckoned on some other things
Like truth, and love, and joy
and for showing
that you care a lot
even to those life’s bullies
who annoy
And some have said
He was the prophet, Jesus
And some say
He is the Christ
And some believe
He came to save us
to somehow
bring us back to life
But maybe you don’t know of Him
and that’s ok,
not many really do
but when you’re all alone
at Christmastime
give Him a chance
He’ll talk to you
noooo,
not in a weird or wacky way
like a strange invisible friend
but, it’s sorta like
you’re tryna remember
a love letter
what you’ve yet to send
And as you sit down with your beer
And pet your dog, or cat
Just take a minute…
…and close your eyes…
just see what happens…
…after that
He may just have a message
something special
just for you
and it’ll likely bring a comfort
warm your heart up
through and through
And then you’ll get to knowin
how this time
just once a year
is mostly, best spent
sittin down, alone and quiet
to feel His loving presence
deep down
in here
